Hopetown Darlington

We are an award-winning railway-themed visitor attraction in the heart of Darlington. You can discover 200 years of Darlington’s pioneering railway heritage through play and exploration. Climb aboard Wagon Woods, our amazing outdoor play park, jump on Experiment! our brilliant immersive experience ride and explore the historic North Road Station Museum.

Price: Admission is free. Some exhibitions, events and activities carry a separate charge.

Other facilities

We have a café serving hot and cold food and drinks, and it has a model railway steaming above your heads! We have an outdoor eating area in the Goods Yard and various picnic areas across the site and inside the railway museum. You are very welcome to bring your own food and drink on your visit.

We have a shop in the Goods Shed selling pocket money toys, costumes, books, food and lots more.

Playtown on the Platform is an area in the Goods Yard where toddlers can play for free. It is a sensory-hands on play area.

We have a baby changing/feeding room and Changing Places UK facility inside the railway museum.

Nearest train station is North Road, Darlington. Bus stops on North Road. Shared cycle and buggy storage facility. Off-site parking within 70 meters of the main entrance.
