Woodhorn Museum

Discover 800 years of Northumberland’s history and experience an ever-changing programme of fantastic events and exciting exhibitions at the award winning Woodhorn Museum. Woodhorn Museum is located in a colliery heritage site, once the largest pit village in the world. Explore the heritage buildings, experience what life was like in a mining town and be inspired by The Pitmen Painters, the famous group of amateur artists from Ashington.

Price: Adults £11 (£10 without optional donation), Concessions £10 (£9 without optional donation) and under 18s free. Pay once and enjoy unlimited repeat visits for 12 months.

Opening times: All year Wednesday – Sunday, 10am – 4pm (closed Monday and Tuesday). Open 7 days a week during the school summer holidays.

Address: Woodhorn Museum & Northumberland Archives, QEII Country Park, Ashington, Northumberland NE63 9YF.

(Follow the Brown Signs not the Sat Nav, once you get within a mile or so of the museum). Just off the A189 Coastal Route east of Ashington.

Free parking available on site. Cycle racks available.

Nearest bus stop: Ashington Bus Station (15 minutes walk).

Nearest train station: Ashington (20 minutes walk)
